R.I.P Barbara Davis
On behalf of the Orange Tail Association, our deepest sympathy to the friends and family of this very popular air hostess.
Barbara, we dedicate this 1932 poem by Mary Frye to you and the memory that you left behind.
Do Not Stand At My Grave And Weep
Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glint on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you wake in the morning hush,
I am the swift, uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circling flight.
I am the soft starlight at night.
Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there, I do not sleep.
Do not stand at my grave and cry.
I am not there, I did not die!
- Mary Frye (1932)

BOEING 787 DREAMLINER VISITS AFRICAN COUNTRIES
During December 2011, the B787 Dreamliner visited Ethiopia and Kenya. The B787 is one of several new Boeings to go on sale soon, and is set to take the market by storm.
Airbus is fast losing market place share as Boeing popularity is increasing sharply again, with Boeing leaving no stone unturned to regain it's dominance in the aviation world again. Much of this is due to Airbus not being able to meet delivery schedules, and have resulted in many airlines breaking their ties with Airbus. Another reason is that the ageing range of Airbus aircraft is now proving to be nowhere near matching the reliability of older Boeings. This together with much higher maintenance and operating costs, means the end of the Airbus era for many an airline.
Amongst pilots it is no secret that their "honeymoon" with Airbus technology is long over. Often in pilot's circles the conversation inevitably leads to the "which do you prefer to fly" question being asked. The answer most often is:" If it's not Boeing, then I'm not going"

Made from composite materials, the Boeing 787 Dreamliner is the first mid-size airplane capable of flying long-range routes and will allow airlines to open new, non-stop routes preferred by the traveling public. As a result of innovative technologies, the airplane offers unparalleled operating economics, fuel efficiency and passenger comfort. More than 800 787s are on order by more than 50 airlines, a testament to the airplane's unique capabilities.

TAKE OFF: In 2006 the Orange Tail website took off, with only a hand full of pax on board, and almost did not make it to V1. Today we are way past rotate, and in fact are steadily climbing to our cruising altitude.
During 2012 there still is a lot to be added to the website. We still have another 4,000 odd pics that needs to sorted, quality improved, cropped and resized before they can be loaded.
NEW RECORD: - On 4 January 111 members logged in at the crew website!
2nd RECORD: - In December 1736 log-ins = average of 56 each day!
Many thanks - You logging in is our reward for the hard work that the team of Eckard and Benito put in, instead of taking leave in December. THANK YOU!
Thank you for the many e-mails that we are getting from members with comments and constructive critique - PLEASE we need to know what it is that you want here (and what you DO NOT want) So please write to me at joppie@orangetail.co.za
